Pyramid of Performance + Developmental Stages

What is LTAD?

The LTAD training model seeks to infuse practicality and science into the preparation of young athletes who learn the value of slow, steady improvement with the end goal in mind. Through this process individuals acquire the skills, habits and mental strategies necessary to become lifelong athletes.

Our pyramid of performance is designed following the process of motor development, which is ultimately what our developmental stages emphasize.

Guided Discovery (6-9 Years Old)

Our focus within this developmental stage is to provide athletes with a semi structured, fun learning environment giving them the opportunity to experiment with as many different motor demands as possible to allow them to learn how to move efficiently and effectively.

Learning Exploration (10-13 Years Old)

An extension to our Guided Discovery stage. Our emphasis on fundamental movement patterns and motor skill development remains but with more complex and higher progression exercises to better enforce foundational strength development.

Train With Application (14+ Years Old)

We never outgrow our foundational movement training although athletes within this developmental stage are introduced to the finer points of sport specific skill with training intensity and complexity increased. Athletes must be adequately prepared in their physical development (Coordination, foundational strength, endurance, power and agility) before progressing.
